In
October of 1988, cops raided a house looking for a murder suspect. After searching the upper portion of the
house, they went into the basement were an elderly couple from the Dominican
Republic were renting a single room.
They didn’t speak English.
They
were awakened by the cops kicking in their bedroom door. Not knowing what to expect, the man grabbed a
pistol. The cops shot him in the stomach
and killed his wife, shooting her five times in the throat and face. In all the cops fired 11 shots in a matter of
seconds.
Before
they left, the cops ransacked the room, taking the room’s door with them as
evidence. When asked to explain the cops
actions, the chief of police became indignant and told reporters “We’re not
going to explain who did what or who said what” The Board of Supervisors leaped into action and demanded an
investigation of the by the States Attorney General’s office….naw, that didn’t
happen and it never will happen.
