“When
there's a single thief, it's robbery. When there are a thousand thieves, its
taxation.” Vanya Cohen
In
October of 1998, the police announced yet another moneymaking crack down of drivers
for "aggressive driving" and "road rage". Road traps are an old southern cop trick to
make money, and this crackdown was a real moneymaker. In the 1990s, the cops,
ticket pimps for the Board of Supervisors, gave out more than 60,000 tickets a
year in that racket.
