On
February 23, 1995, a jury found that a Fairfax County police lieutenant named
retaliated against a female civilian employee who had complained about sexual
harassment at work. A communication aide
assigned to the department's Franconia station, said that the cop had harassed
her because she would not strike up a personal relationship with him.
She
said that after she filed the charges,
the cop made up a fake disciplinary charges against her. The lawsuit initially sought $ 1 million in
damages on behalf of the woman and three
female cops who also alleged that Jackson harassed them. The charges made by the other women, who
alleged abuses dating to 1982, were dropped from the case after the judge ruled
that their complaints were not filed on time.
