In
October of 1998, Lt. Larry A. Jackson was “retired” from the police force. Jackson had two community volunteers Melvin
and Susan Entwisle, arrested when they tried to start a Little League in
competition with the one he headed.
Jackson had the couple arrested for
trespassing on school grounds after they tried to recruit players for their new
baseball league. The couple filed a $
150,000 lawsuit against the police department, alleging that Jackson abused his
authority as an officer to support his position in the Bucknell Little
League. The taxpayers picked up the
bill.
