THAT’LL TEACH EM

In January of 1993, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, conceding that its police promotion procedures discriminated against women. They Board of Supervisors then punished the police by agreeing to pay cash settlements to the bias complaints. No money was taken from the police budget and cops were fired.

In April of 1976, a Fairfax County Police detective, a 16-year veteran was charged with felony embezzlement. He was convicted of malfeasance and fined $500.

Under the reign of former Chief of Police Rhorer the Fairfax County Police arrested a man for not wearing clothes in his house while he made coffee, set up an eye doctor on a gambling charge and then used the SWAT team to kill him. An investigation into the charge that the Doctor’s primary clients were cops has never been investigated. The police gunned down an emotionally unstable man because cop who shot him wrongly assumed the man was trying to escape. He wasn’t. The cops also shot dead four other citizens under highly questionable circumstances. The department under Rhorer was sued multiple times by citizens. So did they fire Rhorer? Naw they promoted him. According to news reports Rhorer draws a salary of $191,168 per year as Deputy Fairfax County Executive as well as a concurrent pension from the Fairfax County police of $173000 per year.

At various times in the 1980s, Patterson reported her car was keyed, the gasoline cap stolen, the lights turned on, and the tires flattened--all while the vehicle was parked near the police station. On one occasion, Patterson left her car running in the station parking lot and returned to find the windshield wipers on and the radio's volume increased. Patterson does not know who tampered with her vehicle, but speculates it was the work of fellow officers.

In the summer of 1990, an Officer referred to Patterson as "cruiser butt" or "cruiser ass." After an investigation, the officer received an oral reprimand. The department never discovered who, if anyone, placed the mouse in the mailbox.

"Sheila Patterson is a dumb nigger." Officer’s affidavit on what several officers said to him between 1983 and 1989. Patterson reported that she frequently did not receive backup support when she asked for it. When she would ask for backup, the other officers often responded that they were busy.

"He's on the stoop, trying to defuse that and prevent further assaults. He engages the suspect." The department refused to explain why the officer would have drawn his weapon in the first place.

If police oversight arrives in Fairfax County, they’ll stuff the oversight board with pro-cop friendlies and political hacks and nothing will change. Here’s what will work. Fire the weasels who hire the cops and watch things change overnight.
